The virtues of Frankincense
Frankincense and its skin benefits
Now I'm not one of the wise men, who brought Frankincense, Gold and Myrrh along with them as gifts when they were going to visit the baby Jesus, but I am wise enough to know how beneficial frankincense is to the skin. It has many virtues, one of them being how, if used in a cream for a couple of weeks, can lessen the appearance of wrinkles. It also tones and tightens the skin. We have frankincense in one of our natural handmade soaps and one of our face creams
Frankincense is taken from the Bowellia tree by cutting incisions in the bark. Then the resin (frankincense) oozes out and this is collected. Apparently, this ozzing out of the resin is to protect the wound by sealing it off. And that's what it does to our skin too - it is reputed to have great healing powers for the skin. It's also anti-inflamatory and that might be why it's so healing. Acne sufferers could greatly benefit from it
FRANKINCENSE - A SPIRITUAL HEALER
Frankincense, has the most beautiful 'holy' smell. I have the frankincense resin, which I pound up in a mortar and pestle, then add to sweet almond oil. This I use on my face every day and while applying it,for a brief moment , I feel almost like an enlightened person (I'm neither enlightened nor too wise!) and get this feeling of 'holiness' around me (I'm not too religious either!). It relaxes me and makes me be calm for a while. I love it! It's a mystic experience. It's no wonder that it is widely used in church ceremonies.
