The Healing Power of Daisies

When we think of daisies, we all remember our making daisy chains, during the long summer evenings in the garden or meadow and, then, when it was long enough,  putting it around our head or neck.  While that is a lovely adornment, there's more than meets the eye when it comes to daisies.

The homeopathic remedy,  Bellis Perennis, comes to mind immediately, used for joint pains, bruises, insomnia and even to help with the aches and pains during labour.  Traditionally, in the country, it was reputed to be good for wounds and bruises.  It can be used for all kinds of aches and pains and it is the friend of many a gardener, who, due to excessive bending down, is feeling a bit stiff in the joints.  It has also been known to help with respiratory problems, maybe due to its anti-inflammatory properties.  They say it's full of vitamin C

For something so small and delicate, it truly is a wonder.  I must look into making an ointment with it because I heard that it is as effectual as arnica cream for bruises and sprains.

HOW TO MAKE A DAISY CONCOCTION

Go out to the nearest field, or your garden, pick some daisies, stems and all, and bring it into the kitchen.  Chop it up and put into a cup and pour over boiling water.  Leave it soaking for 2/5 minutes and then sit back, relax and drink.

The common daisy doesn't seem so common anymore, eh?
