The Benefits of Calendula for your Skin
The Benefits of Calendula for your Skin
The Calendula Flower is also known as Marigold. It has many many benefits for the skin.
- It is used by many a parent on their baby's sore bottom when they get a nappy rash. We, as parents, swore by it for this purpose when we had babies
- And not just for babies! Calendula cream can soothe painful areas in all parts of the skin, it is anti-inflamtory, anti-fungal and anti-microbial. It can also help heal wounds
- Many of my clients tell me that they found the calendula and beeswax body butter very helpful for their psoriasis and/or eczema. I'm not saying that this is for certain. I'm just telling you what I was told
- There are rumours that it can to a certain degree protect from the sun. I, myself, have found this to be the case but I couldn't vouch for all skin types.
Calendula in our Body Butter and Hand Cream
We have an abundance of it growing in our garden each summer. I take great delight in collecting the calendula petals that are about to fall off and I keep them in a box in the house where they dry in the air. These dried petals I put in a jar, fill it up with sweet almond oil and leave for a couple of days in a sunny window sill. All this gets put into my body butter and hand cream.
