None of your Lip!!!

Did you ever hear that expression - I'll have none of your lip, missy??!  It is usually a disgruntled parent saying it to a cheeky teenager of a daughter.  Or, at least, that's what comes to my mind.

It means "don't get smart with me" or "enough of your back answers"  But what have the poor lips to do with it?   After all, it's not them that are doing the talking.  They do have to move alright in the process.  Unless one is a ventriloquist those lips are involved in getting out the cheeky remarks.  But they are not to blame.  It's the brain and the teenager's attitude that should be under scrutiny.  So instead of saying "none of you lip"  next time why don't you try "none of your teenage attitude here, missy!!  You know where the door is"  Leave them lips out of it.  They have other more interesting uses
