No Artificial Fragrances in our Skincare Range

Why would you use artificial fragrances if you know they are harmful to your health, right?  Well, one of the reasons is that they are cheaper than their more natural and healthier Essential Oil Fragrances counterpart.  But again I ask the question:- Why put something harmful into your product?  And I don't have the answer to that.

At Heartworks, we absolutely don't care about saving money on cheap fragrances or bad quality oils.  That is not our goal. Our goal is to deliver honest, kind and gentle skincare to our customers and we won't cut corners where quality is concerned.

There's no doubt about it but artificial fragrances are seriously dodgy.  

• They can be carcinogenic.  Benzene derivatives, aldehydes, and toluene are known  to be carcinogenic.  You'll find these a lot in artificial fragrances
• They can set off an allergic reaction.  People with sensitive skin can quickly react in a negative way, like psoriasis.
• They can disrupt hormone activity in our bodies. like anti-perspirant sprays
• They can make us cough and wheeze and that includes anyone around us, as they are airborne and can trigger asthma. 
• They never smell as good the real thing.  I don't know about you but I like to smell a real pineapple or strawberry  rather than an artificial scent of these!  
• They are usually made with petroleum.  Do you want that on your skin?

Just read the label in all of you skincare and avoid any that say "parfum".  Look for unscented or fragrance free or skincare fragranced by essential oils.  By the way, essential oils carry some allergens in them too but, by law, the allergens should be included if greater than .01% of the total content.
