Hand Cream with Ylang Ylang

There's nothing quite like the smell from ylang ylang essential oil; its almost pungent and cloying smell, its exotic overtones.  Some people love it and some people find it too sickly but I could smell it forever.  I love to have the smell of it on my hands and so therefore created a hand cream with the essential oil of ylang ylang in it.

The Origins of Ylang Ylang

It's a small tropical tree coming from the Phillipines, Java, Sumatra and Madagascar.  Flower of flowers is its meaning.  The essential oil comes from the distillation of the yellow flowers that come from the tree.  

The Therapeutic Value of Ylang Ylang

• It has the ability to slow down rapid breathing and an over rapid heartbeat.  So therefore it is great for anxiety which brings on these afore mentioned symptoms.  This is not to say that it's a cure for them but rather it has been known to be a great back-up.  
• Ylang ylang can help to reduce high blood pressure also connected with hypernoea (rapid breathing).
• It is widely used in cosmetics and is suitable for both dry and oily skins as it corrects the sebum production, both over and under, in the body.
• Like jasmine, rose and sandalwoods oils, it is antidepressant, aphrodisiac and sedative and can help with sexual difficulties.  It is both calming and relaxing
